"To Kill a Mockingbird is a good book, with a lot of detail compared to the movie. Scout is a little like a mockingbird herself, because she tells the story the way an innocent mockingbird sings. Miss Maudie tells how bluejays are one thing, but you should not hurt a mockingbird because it only sings and makes people feel better.
Mrs. Dubose the lonely, grouchy neighbor has a bigger role in the book version. She taught the kids that if they do something that isn't good they have to pay for it, because Jem ripped up her flower bed and Atticus made Jem read to Mrs. Dubose every day.
